 | George Boyce Death Certificate This certificate creates a lot of confusion for us as it names George's parents as George Boyce and Julia Dewrey. We note however that the informant is an Authorised Agent, not a family member. We have not been able to find any reference to a Julia Dewrey elsewhere in any of our research.
Based on George's age at death and baptism records from Ireland, we believe his parents were John Boyce and Mary Curry. John and Mary had a son George baptised on 14 March 1828.
At the beginning of the journey from Ireland to Australia in March 1853 George is recorded as being 24, and on the journey from Western Australia to Victoria in February 1854 George is recorded as being 25. George's age at death on the 19th March 1909 is recorded as being 81 years. We have also looked at George's age recorded on the birth certificates of his children. The ages at these events in his life are consistent with George being the son of John Boyce and Mary Curry. |
