BARNAWARTHA.
Word has been received that Sergeant
Ted Draper has been wounded in France.
This is the second time that Teddy has
been wounded. He has been three years
on service and his friends hope that his
wound is not a severe one. -
Private "Paddy" Devitt was also wounded
in this big fight. This is "Paddy's"
second time also. He was wounded at
Pozieres about two years ago, being shot
in the- heel. It was thought then that
he would be invalided home, but he was
patched up and returned to the firing line.
"Paddy" is a cousin of Private George
Boyce, of Tallangatta; whose death in
action was reported last week. They are
grandsons of late Mr. and Mrs. Boyce, of
Wangaratta, formerly of Barnawartha.
DEVITT Patrick Joseph 1893-1918; son of Patrick and Mary nee Boyce; born at Barnawartha in 1893 [vrn 778]; enlisted for WW1 service on 2nd August 1915 as Private 2854 23rd Battalion, 6th Reinforcements, embarked from Melbourne aboard A38 Ulysses on 27th October 1915, and was killed in France on 1st October 1918.
