OBITUARY
General regret was expressed throughout the Barnawartha and Chiltern districts on Thursday of last week when it was learned that a popular resident of the Upper Indigo, in the person of Mr Michael Francis Devitt had died that day at his brother?s (William?s) home. In his youthful days he had an attack of rheumatic fever, the effects from which he never properly recovered. He enjoyed apparently fairly good health until a few moments before his death when he succumbed (suddenly) to heart failure. He was a son of the late Patrick and Mary Devitt, aged 40 years, and was born at Upper Indigo. He was unmarried. He is survived by three sisters, Margaret (Mrs E Elligate, Wodonga), Mary (Mrs T Durkin, Malvern), and Martha (Mrs P O?Brien, Sunshine) and five brothers, William, James, John, George and Daniel. The funeral took place to the Barnawartha cemetery on Friday where Father Lawless conducted the graveside services. Mr A Smith had charge of the burial arrangements
