    We regret having to record the death of Mary, the twelve-year-old daughter of Mr D O?Donoghue, of Brown?s Plains, which sad event occurred in Melbourne on Saturday last, after a very brief illness. Her remains were brought to Barnawartha for interment on Monday and a large number of friends of the deceased gathered at the station to pay their last respects to her memory. The Rev Father Griffin officiated at the grave and Mr Greenhill conducted the interment.

    On Wednesday morning of last week at Rutherglen Daniel O?Donoghue of Brown?s Plains died at the age of 83 years. The deceased was born in County Kerry, Ireland, and when quite a lad made up his mind to try his fortune in Australia. He landed in Melbourne, then went to the Woolshed, and afterwards to the Brown?s Plains district. Not being enamoured with gold digging he turned his attention to the land and selected on the site of his present holding, over 55 years ago. He married a Miss Boyce of Barnawartha, and the young couple set about making a comfortable home, and they made many friends about the district during their long period of the land. His wife predeceased him about three years ago. The late D. O?Donoghue had been ailing for the last two years and about two months ago entered Nurse McEvey?s private hospital, where death took place. He leaves three sons - George, John and Daniel - and one daughter - Margaret (Mrs C Gill) - to mourn their sad loss. His remains were interred in the Barnawartha cemetery on Thursday afternoon last, Rev Father Lawless reading the burial service of the Roman Catholic Church

    Mrs Johanna, wife of Mr Dan O?Donoghue of Brown?s Plains, who had been a sufferer from an inward complaint for a lengthy period, died at her residence on Sunday, aged 67 years. Deceased, who was much esteemed by a large circle of friends, was a resident of the Upper Indigo district for a number of years, being a daughter of the late George Boyce. She leaves a family of three sons (John, George and Daniel) and one daughter, Miss Margaret. The funeral took place on Monday to the Barnawartha cemetery, the Rev J O?Sullivan officiating at the graveside.

    DEATH of Old Colonist.-The death
    of a very old former resident of Barnawatha
    in Mrs. Margaret Boyce, relict
    of the late George Boyce, occurred at
    her residence, Baker stroeet, Wangaratta,
    on Sunday afternoon, afternoon, after a few
    days' illness. The late Mrs. Boyce, who
    was aged 88 years, was born at Cahir,
    Tipporary, Ireland, and came to Australia
    with her husband in 1852. They settled
    at Barnawartha where they resided for 60
    years and about 10 years ago they went
    to Wangaratta to reside, Deceased's
    husband died nine year. ago. The late
    Mrs. Boyce always enjoyed remarkably
    good health, and retained her faculties
    the end. She is survived by five grown
    daughters.
